Brooklyn Bridge Sunset Stroll, Int’l Community High School, NexGen Africa & more!
We’ve got a bunch of great activities coming up to kick-off the summer fun! The first is Friday, June 11th at 7:00pm. We’ll be meeting outside of the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall 6 train station (on Park Row) to make the most of what is supposed to be the most beautiful night this weekend by walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. When we arrive on the Brooklyn side, we’ll sample ice cream from one of the best ice cream places in NY - the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory (brooklynicecreamfactory.com) while enjoying the sunset over the NY skyline from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. We will then do a quick group photo and, depending on everyone’s level of hunger & patience, brave the line at Grimaldi’s for their world famous coal-oven pizza. Please note that both food places are cash only. See our Facebook invite for details and to RSVP.
On Saturday, June 12th, from 11am - 2pm, we will have our final volunteer session of the school year at International Community High School and we’re hoping for a great turnout! For details and to RSVP, please click HERE.
If you have not yet registered for the NexGen Africa forum hosted by one of our partner organizations, Goods 4 Good, on Monday, June 14th, please be sure to do so as soon as possible. Tickets are FREE and Rotaract Club at the UN is proud to be named an organization in attendance for this great event. Reserve your ticket HERE.
It would be great to get a group together to head down to Washington, DC from July 14th-18th for the 2010 RYLA North America Conference. Registration closes on June 20, 2010 so be sure to register at www.rylanorthamerica.com/registration. The registration package is $275 and includes four night stay at George Washington University, conference materials, admission to all embassy & special events, as well as all meals except Saturday night’s dinner. Please feel free to contact Nicole Dolan with any questions or for more information.
We have many more service opportunities and social events coming up this summer, so be sure to keep an eye on, our club calendar.
Finally, we were fortunate to have Diana Mao, co-Founder and President of Nomi Network (www.nominetwork.org), as our guest speaker on Thursday, May 6th. She brought really cool tote bags with her (which many of us quickly purchased) that not only look great but also generate awareness and revenue for Nomi Network. Diana asked me to let everyone know that they just launched their 2010 spring collection & all of their merchandise is now available through their e-commerce site at www.buyherbagnotherbody.com.
